Through several years of research and efforts, modern wooden structure housing, as a new environmental protection and energy-saving building, has attracted attention at home and abroad. However, there are also some problems in the modern wood structure, such as carrying capacity. Therefore, the fiber reinfroced polymer(FRP) material reinforcement method is put forward.
In the study process of wood structure, it is found that FRP has many advantages in strengthening wood structure. These advantages are also suitable for the enhancement of modern bamboo structure in FRP. The advantages are as follows:
(1) increase the bearing capacity of bamboo components and reduce the section size.
(2) improve the fire resistance of bamboo structure.
(3) reduce the strength index and the variation coefficient of mechanical properties.
(4) improve the corrosion resistance of bamboo structure.
Strengthening of modern wood structure by FRP composite
(1) bamboo is a kind of renewable and biodegradable natural biomass composite. Compared with the reinforced concrete structure, steel structure and brick concrete structure, it has the outstanding advantages of ecological, thermal insulation, energy saving, seismic performance and construction and industrialization. Compared with the wood structure, it has the advantages of wide source of raw materials, fast source, good mechanical properties and good flame retardancy.
(2) FRP is mainly used for strengthening timber structures and joints, so as to improve the bearing capacity, stiffness and seismic performance of existing timber structures. As the fabric is very light and thin, the wood structure after reinforcement does not affect the appearance of the fabric, and it does not increase the additional weight, but also improves the fireproof performance of the structure. Therefore, the fiber cloth is more suitable for the modern wood structure reinforcement, and has great potential for development.
(3) the new bamboo structure processed by modern processing technology is relatively high in cost. At the same time, the elastic modulus of the modern bamboo structure is low, the stiffness of the flexural member is small, the tensile strength of the bamboo is relatively low, the neutral axis is near the symmetric axis of the cross section, the material is more used and the mechanical property is discrete. As a result of the premature failure of local defects and the more brittle failure mode, some researchers at present have made use of FRP reinforcement to improve the mechanical properties of bamboo flexural members and make modern bamboo structures popularized and used in a large scale without changing the existing bamboo processing technology.
